Careers
Protecting what matters, together
Behind every transaction we secure is a team that treats precision as a habit, not a goal. At Paytinel, we build the systems that detect risk before it becomes loss — and we're looking for people who think the same way: analytical, calm under pressure, and genuinely curious about how payments work.

Senior Backend Engineer (Go)
About Paytinel
Guarding what matters most — that's not just our motto, it's the engineering problem we solve every day. Paytinel builds the systems that help digital businesses monitor payments, protect revenue, detect suspicious activity, and manage payment-related operational risk in real time.
Our products sit at the intersection of payment infrastructure, transaction monitoring, fraud prevention, dispute management, and payments analytics. We take complex, high-volume transaction data from multiple payment environments and turn it into clear, actionable signal — monitoring, alerts, workflows, and insights that businesses can act on with confidence.
We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Go experience to help us build and evolve the backend systems behind these products — systems where accuracy and reliability aren't nice-to-haves, they're the product.
This role is for an engineer who's comfortable with distributed systems, asynchronous processing, external integrations, financial data, and production environments where correctness matters more than speed of shortcuts.
About the Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll work on services that process and analyze payment-related data across Paytinel's platform. You'll design and implement backend functionality, integrate with external payment infrastructure, strengthen system reliability, and shape technical decisions that affect our architecture.
You'll work on systems where duplicate events, delayed messages, unavailable third-party providers, inconsistent external APIs, and partial failures are normal engineering conditions — not exceptions. We expect you to understand not just how to build a service, but how it behaves under load, how it fails, how it recovers, and how other engineers can understand what's happening in production.
What you'll own
Your responsibilities will include:
Designing, implementing, and maintaining backend services primarily in Go.
Building systems that process payment, transaction, fraud, alert, and dispute-related data.
Developing integrations with payment processors, gateways, financial infrastructure, and third-party APIs.
Designing reliable asynchronous and event-driven workflows.
Building services that correctly handle retries, duplicate events, delayed processing, and partial failures.
Designing and maintaining APIs used by internal and external consumers.
Working with relational databases and designing efficient data models for transactional workloads.
Improving application performance, scalability, and reliability.
Investigating complex production issues across services and integrations.
Improving system observability through metrics, structured logging, tracing, and alerting.
Writing automated tests and improving existing testing practices.
Participating in code reviews and technical design discussions.
Collaborating with product and engineering colleagues to translate business problems into reliable technical solutions.
Contributing to architectural decisions while keeping systems understandable and maintainable.
You will own features and technical problems from design through production.
You're a strong fit if you have
7+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
3+ years of commercial experience with Go in production environments.
Strong understanding of Go fundamentals, including concurrency, goroutines, channels, interfaces, context handling, error handling, and memory behavior.
Experience designing and operating backend services in distributed environments.
Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including indexing, transactions, locking, query optimization, and schema design.
Practical experience with asynchronous processing and message brokers such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, Pub/Sub, NATS, or similar technologies.
Experience designing REST or other service-to-service APIs.
Understanding of distributed-system concepts.
Experience deploying and operating services in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience with Docker and containerized production environments.
Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, ELK, or similar platforms.
Strong debugging skills and experience investigating production incidents.
Good understanding of automated testing, including unit and integration testing.
Ability to independently take ownership of technically complex tasks.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
What we expect from a Senior Engineer
At Paytinel, Senior means more than being able to implement complex tickets independently.
We expect you to:
Understand the broader system around the service you are working on.
Identify technical risks before they become production issues.
Challenge unclear or unnecessarily complicated solutions.
Make reasonable architectural decisions within your area of ownership.
Investigate incidents systematically rather than treating symptoms.
Write code that other engineers can safely understand and maintain.
Participate actively in code and design reviews.
Help improve engineering standards across the team.
Communicate technical trade-offs clearly.
Take responsibility for how your solutions behave after deployment.
You should be able to work effectively when requirements are not fully specified and turn ambiguous engineering problems into practical solutions.
Nice to have
We will be particularly interested if you have experience with:
Payment processing systems.
Payment gateways or PSP integrations.
Acquiring infrastructure.
Transaction monitoring.
Fraud prevention or risk-management systems.
Chargebacks and dispute management.
Recurring payments or subscription billing.
Reconciliation systems.
PCI DSS or security requirements applicable to payment infrastructure.
Financial-data processing.
If you care about precision, take ownership of how your code behaves after deployment, and want to build the systems that stand between businesses and payment risk — we'd like to talk.
